Ever since “the pandemic” hit, there’s been lots of stress and chaos for everyone in some way, shape or form.

If you’re reading this, you probably want to remain centered and surf these big waves of disruption, right?

To do this, you need to learn how to shift your vibration, on demand. I call this Upshifting, and it’s changed my life.

Whenever I feel stressed, overwhelmed, fearful, angry, hopeless – or anything like that – I pull out some tools to shift my energy. If I wasn’t aware of these, I would’ve easily slipped into some dark places and negative feedback loops.

There are so many ways to shift your energy. What I’ll share with you here are the easiest to implement and the most effective for shifting your energy FAST.

Some of these you’ve probably heard of before, and some you might have not. Either way, this will serve as a reminder of practices to implement.

I also included resources here to point you in the right direction and help you develop consistent practices. This will help you shift your energy in the short-term, and also increase your vibrational set-point, so your default state of being is a higher vibration.

Now let’s get into the tools and practices.

25 Ways To Shift Your Energy & Raise Your Vibration (In Minutes)

1) Breathwork

Breathwork is so simple, yet so incredibly powerful.

It’s literally the simplest thing: breathing. But when you know certain breathing techniques (called Pranayama in the yogic tradition), you have the power to shift your energy anytime, anywhere.

The simplest type of breathwork is belly breathing. Simply breathe slowly and deeply into your belly, letting it expand as you inhale and contract as you exhale. Even just three deep breaths like this can be very calming and centering.

2) Qigong

According to the National Qigong Association, qigong is described as, “a mind-body-spirit practice that improves one’s mental and physical health by integrating posture, movement, breathing technique, self-massage, sound, and focused intent.”

I love doing intuitive qigong, just letting my breath and body move slowly and working with my energy fields.

3) Working Out

Working out is one of the best ways to transmute energy. Even if you’re in a funk and you don’t feel like moving, just commit to a warmup. Then, when you’re warming up, you get the energy moving and you’ll feel more motivated to workout.

With using workouts to shift your energy, set the intention of transmuting your energy. Intention is so powerful, and when infused into a workout, you can go from despair to bliss pretty quickly.

4) Stretching

Simple stretches and mobility work is an overlooked way to shift your energy. Oftentimes, we carry stuck energy in our bodies, and stretching and/or mobility exercises can help unblock it.

That hip flexor routine is amazing for the spine as well as the hips, and I literally feel high and light afterwards.

5) Yoga

Yoga is another great way to shift your energy. Every time you commit to doing some yoga, you feel better after.

Yoga was specifically designed to facilitate spiritual growth, so that should be all the inspiration you need to practice yoga to shift your energy and raise your vibration.

Besides going to a local yoga class, searching for yoga videos on YouTube is a great way to learn and practice yoga.

6) EFT Tapping

According to The Tapping Solution website, EFT Tapping is described like this. “Like acupuncture and acupressure, Tapping is a set of techniques which utilize the body’s energy meridian points. You can stimulate these meridian points by tapping on them with your fingertips – literally tapping into your body’s own energy and healing power.”

7) Dance

Dance is one of the simplest and most powerful ways to shift your energy.

Put on an uplifting song, dance like a crazy-person for a few minutes, and you will feel a BIG shift in your energy, guaranteed.

I recommend dancing every day, even just for a few minutes. It’s really amazing how it can elevate your mood and shift your energy.

When you dance, go all in. Dance like no one is watching. Be weirder and wilder than you believe is possible. Let loose completely, and you will have a truly cathartic experience.

8) Intuitive Movement

Along with all of the other types of movement listed here, you can also do any intuitive movement of your own. Just move your body and let it express itself.

You can also combine modalities – like dancing and qigong for example – to inspire intuitive movement.

9) Walking Outside

A simple walk outside is actually one of the most powerful ways to shift your energy. It works best if you leave your phone at home and just be present as you walk.

Many intellectual and creative geniuses throughout history are well-known for their daily walking habits, including Albert Einstein, Aristotle, Charles Dickens, Charles Darwin, Henry David Thoreau, Ludwig Van Beethoven, Soren Kierkegaard and William Wordsworth.

If you feel stuck in any way, a nice walk outside might be the perfect remedy.

10) Cold Showers

Cold showers are by far the quickest, and perhaps the most intense, way to shift your energy.

You don’t need to have your whole shower be cold. But at least 30 seconds of cold water at the end will do.

With cold showers, there’s no avoiding the shift. As soon as the cold water hits your skin, you automatically breathe deeper. Your body also responds in several ways which benefits your health and changes your state of being.

11) Natural Bodies Of Water

Any natural body of water helps to ease the mind and bring balance to your being. You don’t even necessarily have to swim in it. Simply walking along a stream, visiting a waterfall or sitting on a beach will help shift your energy.

12) Sunlight

Another elemental force of transformation is sunlight. Just getting a few minutes of sunlight, especially on your face, will shift your energy.

Feel the sun nourish your being, and soak in its energy. Sunlight can be so transmutative, especially if you pause and really feel it.

13) Grounding

When you put your bare feet on the Earth, it’s so healthy for you. Here’s how Healthline describes grounding: “Grounding or earthing is a therapeutic technique that focuses on realigning your electrical energy by reconnecting to the earth.”

Grounding is nicknamed Vitamin G for a reason. Try it yourself. Just stand or sit in your backyard (or a local park) barefoot, and feel. You can combine grounding with other practices on this list – like Qigong – for maximum upshifting.

14) Good Music

Everyone knows music can shift your mood. However, I encourage you to use music as a remedy for feeling stuck of negative.

It’s easy to forget about your favorite feel-good jams when you’re in a funk. But if you remember, it can shift your being within minutes – especially if you dance and sing too.

15) Essential Oils

Essential oils are an overlooked and underrated way to shift your energy. If you have the right essential oils, it can really shift your energy.

My wife makes an amazing blend of frankincense, rose and lavender. I put it in our diffuser before I meditate in the morning and keep it running throughout the morning. That blend creates an environment of such peace and clarity, I love it so much.

16) Singing, Toning & Humming

Anyone who has sung, without inhibition, knows how transformative singing can be. It’s not about being a great singer, it’s about expression and vibrating your body.

You don’t even have to sing words. You can just “tone” vowel sounds like “ah” or “oh”, or just hum. Anything where you’re using your voice to create vibrations in your body is super-powerful for shifting your energy.

17) Light Language

Light Language is Universal Language, some may even refer to it as the Language of Love or the Divine Gift of Tongues. It is the streaming of consciousness through the heart – the sacred gateway within all Beings.

18) Chanting

Chanting is an ancient way of shifting your vibration and accessing higher levels of consciousness. If you chant for even a few minutes, you start to feel a profound shift in your awareness.

Chanting can be done internally or aloud. I’ve found that chanting out loud is usually more powerful, because you get your whole body vibrating with your voice.

Different mantras act as different “phone numbers” to dial into specific states of consciousness.

Here are the best mantras to start with:

19) Affirmations

Like with chanting, you can use affirmations to shift your energy and intentionally direct your state of consciousness. Affirmations work best when said aloud and with passion.

I love to have fun with affirmations. I’ll put on some instrumental music and speak with passion and authority, almost like a baptist preacher – “I AM WORTHY AND ABUNDANT NOW!” Try that out yourself and have fun with it. It works surprisingly well 🙂

20) Laughing

Laughter really is the best medicine. Find ways to laugh more often.

Here are some ideas:

  • Be so weird when you’re alone that you make yourself laugh
  • Make weird sounds until you laugh
  • Look up funny jokes
  • Watch some comedy
  • Watch funny videos
  • Laugh at the grand cosmic joke of existence sometimes

21) Crying

Crying can be huge for release as well as creating space for you to shift into higher levels of consciousness.

Don’t be afraid to cry. And when you cry, let it express fully. Let your body collapse and shake without resisting it. On the other side of that cry is pure serenity.

Also, allow tears of joy to flow through as well when it arises. Don’t be afraid of that either.

22) Self-Care

Treat yourself to some form of self-care on a regular basis. This could be massage, reiki, acupuncture, floatation therapy, sound healing, spa treatment, or anything like that.

This will help reset your energy, relieve stress and attune you to higher levels of consciousness.

23) Meditation

Meditation is the most important practice, hands down. It’s foundational for everything else in life, and enhances everything else in life.

Meditation is simply a state of awareness. It is peace and stillness, blended with profound alertness.

Meditation is the practice of mindfulness. It is observing your thoughts without being attached to them. It is objectively witnessing the activity of your body and mind.

There are many ways to meditate, remember that. Find what works for you, without getting hung up on “doing it right.” An informal consistent meditation practice is much more effective than an inconsistent, formal practice.

Meditation must be experienced to be truly understood. I can give you a book of explanations, but you won’t really know what it is until you start practicing it. So I included some recommendations below:

24) Journaling

Journaling can be a profound way to create awareness and perspective. You can just start writing what’s on your mind, or what you’re feeling, and let it flow without inhibition.

25) Gratitude

Gratitude, in and of itself, can shift your energy in a big way.

All you need to do is say (internally or out loud) or write down some things you’re grateful for. Don’t just focus on the big things, feel gratitude for even the simplest things in your life.

By the time you even think about 5-10 things you’re grateful for, you’ll feel your energy shifting.

The 20 Minute Principle For Shifting Your Energy

Before you implement these practices, here’s something important to know. It takes around 20 minutes to create a definitive phase shift with many practices.

While you can feel the benefit of some practices after a minute or two, I encourage you to do at least one 20 minute upshifting session every day. There’s a very tangible shift that takes place after around 15-20 minutes.

I’ve experienced this with so many practices. With anything involving movement (dancing, hiking, working out, etc.), I shift into a deep flow state after 15-20 minutes. With meditation, I drop into pure awareness about 15-20 minutes in.

The reason for this is brainwave states.

Most people’s brainwaves are in Beta most of their waking hours. Usually when you start one of these practices, Alpha kicks in pretty quickly, then around 15-20 minutes in, there’s a shift to Theta.

This of course depends on the practice (both in terms of the amount of time and brainwave states). Even being in Alpha state feels really good as well.

Don’t get too hung up on the details here. The main point is this: Do your practice until you feel a positive shift. If you can go 20 minutes, great. If you only have a few minutes to spare, that’s fine too.

Bring clearer awareness to your state of being and start to learn how to upshift your energy and have a good time doing it.

Remember, have fun with this. Life doesn’t need to be so serious, stressful and heavy. Live lightheartedly and have fun aligning with the highest frequencies of love and light.
