The ego created god in its image…
The Judeo-Christian “god” is a judgmental, jealous, conditionally loving patriarch. Sounds a lot like the ego, right? Plus, even assigning a gender to God is just plain silly (and another egoic classification).
Recognizing that there is so much beyond its perception, the ego projected its own sense of self to create its limited idea of “God.” This “god” is an extreme distortion of the true “God”, which is Stillness, Source, All That Is, Oneness, Unconditional Love (because love is the ultimate unifying force), Infinite Possibility, I Am That I Am, Nothingness/Everythingness, Pure Consciousness Beingness…etc.
God isn’t A BEING, God IS BEING.
So being pure BEING, God is Unconditional Love. Unconditional Love inherently comes with free will, as control is conditional love. And with free will comes the choice to exist separately (at least on the surface/perceptual level) from God (Source) through the ego.
Everything is a manifestation of God (Infinite Possibility). This is how God “creates everything in its image.” Being an extension of God like everything else, the ego is a participating part of this eternal cycle of “creating in its image.” Yet because from the ego’s perspective, it is separate from All That Is (God), it creates “god” from its own limited perspective. This is how we get the distorted projection that is this judgmental, jealous, conditionally loving, patriarchal “god.”
And this false god (demiurge) is yet another aspect of God (Stillness, Source, All That Is, Oneness, Unconditional Love, Infinite Possibility, Nothingness/Everythingness, Pure Consciousness Beingness…etc.).
All is God. All is Self.
PS – Remember that God is beyond words, names and all classification. To say “Nothingness” is to make it some-thing. To even say “All That Is” or “Infinite” makes it finite. So don’t get hung up on the words that attempt to describe God. These labels just point towards what it is. As hinted at in the Tao Te Ching, the Tao that can be told is not the Eternal Tao. The name that can be named is not the Eternal Name.
