Story time…
Last Friday night I was gallivanting along the streets of Portland (Maine) when I heard the voice of a young man behind me say “Excuse me sir, could you spare any change?” I stopped dead in my tracks. Not because of what he said, but how he said it. It wasn’t the usual, incoherent babble. It wasn’t in a disempowered, victim-stricken tone. It was polite and articulate with a refreshing sense of hope. So I turned around and we both introduced ourselves. His name was Adam and he’s about my age (26… in Earth years). He’s been on his own since adolescence when his single mother passed away. He has family dispersed across the world and (sadly) none willing to help him out. After a series of unfortunate circumstances he found himself with no place to live a couple weeks ago.
We immediately hit it off and started talking about anything and everything… Our lives, our experiences, the monetary system, philosophy, positivity, personal growth, changing lives…etc. As this positive energy built up between us, a tall dude (around our age too) walked up and excitedly greeted Adam (handshakes & man hugs). They’re old friends that haven’t seen each other in months (his friend was noticeably surprised to find out that Adam was on the streets). So the three of us started talking about empowerment, self-improvement and all that good stuff. At one point, Adam’s friend mentioned that a major turning point in his life was recently when he volunteered at Kripalu for 6 months. I was like “Yo… I was there like 5 days ago!” (see my post here). So funny. So synchronistic. And everyone that walked by our triangle of awesomeness was smiling. We all knew that we were co-creating something special. #datenergytho
I felt compelled to give Adam $20 and he accepted it with radiant gratitude, promising that he would pay it forward. I knew he would. Then we parted ways and I kept energy snowballing for the rest of the night (that’s another story haha).
Quick shout out to Adam: Keep your head up and stay positive, my friend. May all the dreams and desires of your heart come true.
The experience we all co-created last week was a breath of fresh air. That’s the kind of stuff that happens when you’re energy snowballing…
And we’ve all experienced it. We’ve all experienced the phenomenon of feeding off of other people’s energy. A team rallying behind the empowerment of a motivational halftime speech. One person instigating a spontaneous laugh fest amongst a group of friends. The reaction of everyone at a party when “Return of the Mack” comes on. The ever-increasing, tangible energy of a crowd matching the climax of a song during a live performance. The feeling of utter euphoria that arises within the depths of every soul whenever the word “Pokémon” is brought up. (Wait… Is that just me?)
Vibes are contagious. Energy is infectious.
Everything is energy, frequency and vibration…
“If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.” -Nikola Tesla
And everything tends to match the dominant frequency at hand…
“Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics.” -Bashar
This manifests in the form of feelings/emotions, behavior, situations, experiences…etc. Energy snowballing happens with everything, from the micro scale to the macro scale.
It all starts with a little spark. That spark could be as simple as a friendly smile. And with that spark, you start attracting similar energy, drawing in compatible vibes. This builds and builds, as beings feed off of each other’s energy. It’s a damn good time.
And of course, it applies to the “negative” as well (think about riots). Energy snowballing is a powerful tool. So use that tool to build a better home (Earth), instead of hitting yourself in the face with it.
Be a beam of light everywhere you go. When you radiate your inner light, you drive out darkness and help others see.
“Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.” -Buddha
Step into your power and start an avalanche of positive energy everywhere you go.
“The truth is that existence wants your life to become a festival.” -Osho
Stay snowballin.
